A Time For Thanks

It's the day before Thanksgiving and like everyone else, I'm rushing around at the grocery store picking up those last minute items I need to cook our special family dishes tomorrow.

In reflecting back over the last several months, I feel so grateful for all the people who have worked so hard to make Hair Loss Confidential into an inspiring and dignified reality TV show which respects the lives of the people we feature in each episode. We have changed lives and in turn, we have evolved into more loving and caring professionals.

I have read several of the blog entries that both Myranda and her Mom, Montica, have posted on various hair loss websites. I can hear Myranda's joy when she writes things like: THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING SHOW EVER. IT REALLY CHANGED MY LIFE. We heard from our friends at Hans Wiemann that Myranda has tried out for cheerleading, something she never could consider before! And her Mom tells us that Myranda is now interested in modeling, public speaking and acting!! This is not the Myranda we first met in Illinois. Happy Thanksgiving Myranda!!

We are working on more episodes right now and are excited to bring them to you in the weeks and months ahead. Remember to check the website on December 8 to find out Myranda's surprise! You'll really enjoy it but make sure to have your tissues handy!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. May we remember to be thankful for all our blessings - big and small - seen and unseen.

Launch Day

WOO-HOO!! Today we launch the very first webisode of Hair Loss Confidential! I am excited, relieved, stressed, joyful, tired, exuberant!!! But more than anything, I’m happy. There are so many people who deserve my deepest thanks and appreciation. Blended Media, the production company for Hair Loss Confidential, have produced an outstanding episode about 16 year old Myranda and her family who have all suffered as a result of her hair loss and subsequent bullying and alienation at school. The crew (Jim, Lainie, Diana, Jason) treated this family with the same gentle and loving respect they would their own. We received rave reviews about them from both the family and Hans Wiemann, the transformation center in St. Louis. They are a professional, hard-working and thoughtful television crew. How blessed we are to work with them.

Our website has been in a state of becoming for several months. Our web designer, Holly Jonas, is a rock star!!! Creative. Patient. Innovative. A true team player. When you google the phrase, “She always goes the extra mile”, I’m positive there’s a picture of Holly!!

Kudos to Hans Wiemann. Ed, Tim and John, you worked so hard to help Hair Loss Confidential pull off this wonderful hair loss transformation for Myranda. How can I thank you??? To Karen and Sherri. You did a beautiful job and we appreciate you.

Terry. My creative rock!

Lisa, the risk was all yours. “What a journey this has been . . . “

And finally to Myranda, Montica, Rob and the entire family . . . thank you for allowing Hair Loss Confidential to tell your very personal and painful story. We pray all good things for you in the days ahead.

The Pain of Women's Hair Loss

When we think of hair loss, often our first thought is that of balding men. However, if you ask any hair loss clinic in the United States, they will tell you that half of their clientele are women. Women suffer hair loss differently than do men. Often, they are not candidates for some of the hair loss options available to men. That's why it's important if you're a woman to get answers for what is going to work for you.

In the production of HAIR LOSS CONFIDENTIAL, we've seen first-hand the anguish that many women suffer because of their hair loss. For instance, society treats men with hair loss differently than we do women with thinning hair. This often leads to embarrasment and shame for woman with thinning hair. One of the main goals of HAIR LOSS CONFIDENTIAL, is to educate the public that hair loss with women is natural. It happens because of many different reasons including pregnancy, menopause, medical issues and side effects from medications. There is no reason to be ashamed. If you are suffering from hair loss there are effective options available to you. Find out about them. There really is no reason to suffer for even one more day!

I'm in the Glow!

As I write these words, I'm still in the "glow" of seeing the rough-cut of "Myranda's Story", the first episode of HAIR LOSS CONFIDENTIAL. The finished episode will be available on this website on November 10.

Myranda is a 16 year-old girl from Caseyville, IL who has suffered serious abuse from other teenagers as a result of her hair loss. I won't give away any more details. All I can say is "WOW"! I promise you'll be both moved and inspired. Have your tissues close by!! Most importantly, you'll never look at hair loss the same way again! The episode highlights just how devastating hair loss can be in someone's life - and how it affects their family as well. Of course, the solution to Myranda's hair loss is amazing.

Please watch her story on November 10 and let me know what you think!
