Will I Have A Nice Dome?

I’m sitting here watching the USA Men’s Beach Volleyball team of Dalhausser & Rogers at the Beijing Olympics. They’re playing against Argentina and are very close to a win. Visualize my surprise when the two TV commentators start talking about Dalhausser’s “dome” and then flash a picture of him as a teenager with a full head of hair. It turns out that “the thin beast” as he’s called, started significantly losing his hair just as he entered his twenties. According to the commentators, he was very angry and blamed his parents wondering what they had done to him to cause his hair loss. Dalhausser chose to shave his head much to the shock of his parents and friends. His big concern: Will I have a nice dome or will my head be misshapen underneath the hair.

Well, Dalhausser was blessed with a great dome. But not every young man suffering from early onset male pattern baldness can boast a perfectly shaped head! More often than not, they are like “Eric” from Episode One of Hair Loss Confidential who believed that a baseball cap could be worn with everything from his bathing suit to his tuxedo.

Do you know a man who is angry and frustrated because he’s balding way too young? If so, nominate him and let Hair Loss Confidential give him back his confidence and self-esteem.

And by-the-way, if you haven’t had an opportunity to drool over Phil Dalhausser this week in Beijing, here’s a video from 2007 as he prepared for the Olympics.

Women's Hair Loss Solution is Shear Genius

You know when you buy a new car; all of a sudden you see that same car everywhere on the road? Well that’s exactly what has happened since we launched Hair Loss Confidential. I have seen several hair loss stories on both television and in print in this last week and I want to share them with you. They demonstrate why we decided to produce this show and the power of the healing that the show can provide.

The July 23 episode of Bravo TV’s Shear Genius hosted by Jaclyn Smith of Charlie's Angels fame, featured several women who suffer from alopecia areata. Nearly 2% of people in the United States, many of them children, suffer from alopecia areata, a skin disorder that causes hair to fall out in patches; many times leaving the person completely bald. The Shear Genius episode provided a moving example of the tragedy, the courage, and the desire for appropriate and attractive solutions faced by people who suffer from alopecia every day of their lives.
